We are delighted to tell you that Swan Meadow Nursery are taking part in a Greater Manchester toothbrushing programme to strengthen children’s teeth. This involves your child brushing their own teeth, using a fluoride toothpaste at nursery. This will be happening within the 2-3 room a and Pre-School
Supervised toothbrushing in early year’s settings has been shown to be effective at reducing tooth decay in children. Each child taking part will receive a free toothbrush for nursery and a fluoride toothpaste to use in their class under the supervision of the nursery practitioners. The children will also receive a dental pack to take home containing a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste and an information leaflet.
The aim of the programme is to help reduce dental decay in children and with your support we can reinforce your home toothbrushing routine. However we still encourage you to continue to brush your child’s teeth morning and night and to supervise their toothbrushing until they are 7 years old to ensure their teeth are thoroughly brushed twice a day.
If you would like your child to take part in this activity in nursery, please sign the consent form within your child’s room. If you don’t fill out the slip your child won’t be able to benefit from this programme.
Please feel free to speak to your child’s key person regarding the programme or to fill in the consent slip
