Our bright and peaceful Baby Room offers the perfect setting for our youngest learners, reflecting a true home from home environment.
A selection of heuristic resources including sensory items and treasure baskets ensures every baby’s curiosity is fulfilled. A separate gated area offers free flow into a world of craft and messy play activities where babies have the space and freedom to explore using all their senses, and when messy play is complete highchairs and tables provide a safe eating area.
Babies’ physical skills are also put to the test through continuous provision into our dedicated outdoor Baby Garden, equipped with an array of resources and equipment including a discovery area, sandpit and sheltered area to facilitate play in all weathers. When all the exploring becomes too much babies can retreat to the cosy corner, equipped with soft furnishings, sensory swing and cots, perfect for sleep time.
Practitioners have a keen and sensitive understanding that every baby is unique, and support is offered to all parents to ensure we deliver an effective and fun routine that caters for each individual’s needs.
Our bright and spacious Toddler Room is perfectly designed for under two’s.
As children develop and grow we offer freedom and space through interlinking rooms that reflect every area of learning. Children can explore and investigate in our small world and discovery areas as well as building and assembling with a wide range of blocks and bricks in our construction area.
For quieter times we offer a peaceful book corner for reading stories and singing children’s favourite rhymes and songs, and a designated home corner offers ample opportunity for role play, developing those early imagination skills. We also have a separate dining area for meal times where practitioners can promote independence and communication skills and when meal times are over the room is filled with fun and engaging craft and messy play activities.
Our Toddlers also have access to an abundance of space within the main playground equipped with its very own Treehouse, as well as slides, stepping stones and other resources designed to promote physical development in the outdoor environment.
Set in the grounds of our Woodland School, our Woodland 2-3 Room is situated alongside the tranquillity of the River Tame.
It is here that children are first introduced to our ethos of learning in connection with the natural world. The room itself is designed to incorporate all areas of learning across the EYFS, aiding children to progress and develop a multitude of skills.
These areas and activities are also reflected in the Outdoor Classroom and children have daily free flow access between the two environments. Construction areas and a tinkering table allow budding engineers to build, mend and repair with a combination of play resources and real tools, teaching children about safety and risks.
A designated investigation station and a viewing platform links the children’s environment to the wider world and children are encouraged to share discussions on what they have observed in their surroundings. The indoor Book Corner provides a relaxing space for children seeking time to gather their thoughts, whilst our Home Corner nurtures children’s ever-growing imagination.
All this, as well as direct access to the magical Hobbit Home and Woodland Trail makes for the perfect environment for any keen and adventurous 2-3 year old!
Situated within our Woodland School, the Woodland Preschool is serenely nestled amongst the trees and is a captivating environment for the over 3’s.
Outdoor learning is integral to the curriculum and children are given ample opportunity for adventurous and meaningful play experiences that are linked the natural world. Free flow, continuous provision is provided both to the front and rear of the building with our Outdoor Classroom and Preschool Garden respectively, with an in built obstacle course, climbing frame and tyre swing.
Indoors children have access to a home corner, small world, and book corner equipped with an interactive smartboard for accessing educational material. Scope for learning is immense and children’s independence and confidence is encouraged by a dedicated and skilful staff team who are in tune with children’s emotions, beliefs and interests.
Staff also deliver a range of educational programmes such as sign-a-long sessions and Letters and Sounds, as well as focusing on letter formation, mathematical skills and problem solving. Within their final year with us we strive to ensure that our Pre-schoolers leave as confident, spirited individuals ready to take on the challenges ahead.
Along with our four main rooms the nursery also boasts its very own Sensory Room, featuring a range of audio visual equipment including a sound system, large projector and sensory lighting.
This multi-functional space is accessed by children on a daily basis and practitioners offer age specific activities ranging from calm, soothing sensory play for babies to yoga and dance classes for the over 2’s.
This unique environment allows children to engage their senses in a distinctive and intriguing way.
Swan Meadow Cottage prides itself on its extensive outdoor provision. With a drive and passion for outdoor learning, our team have created a space for wild adventures and purposeful play, with an emphasis on connecting learning to the natural world.
Babies and Toddlers benefit from regular free flow access to their designated outdoor play areas, whilst our Woodland School caters for the adventure-seeking 2-3’s and Preschool children. Our on-site woodland trail is ideal for activities inspired by the Forest Schools ethos and through a combination of adult and child led play, children are free to become explorers, investigators, risk takers and most importantly, pioneers of their own learning.
Activities such as tree climbing, pond dipping, nature hunts and den building all contribute to improved health and physical development and also offer endless opportunity for creativity and imagination.
Our skilled and enthusiastic practitioners help develop children’s innate curiosity and love for learning, and we strongly believe our philosophy has a real positive and lasting impact on children’s lives.
Our exciting Holiday Club caters for children aged between 5 and 11 years during each school holiday and is a fun and thriving environment for any child.
Based in our magical Tipi children take part in a range of wild woodland activities such as den and shelter building, tree climbing, woodland craft and messy play. Our in built adventure trail challenges children’s physical skills and working together on different tasks helps children to develop emotional and social skills.
Regular excursions into the surrounding fields and woodland offers children freedom to explore nature through first hand experiences of weather, seasons, and life cycles. Experienced, enthusiastic practitioners carefully extend children’s critical thinking skills through a range of games, activities, and excursions and children leave Holiday Club having formed lasting friendships, eager to return again!
